Victoria secret has the most invasive store experiences/policy. You are continually harassed for your zip code or email address even after you indicate you don't want to.

AND I seriously oppose the return policy that they require an ID proof, even when you have a receipt. This is clearly a violation of my privacy and can lead to identify theft. I had a huge debate with the clerk that she wouldn't let me return my item, with receipt if I didn't show her my driver's license.

I refused to. I WILL BOYCOTT VICOTORIA SECRET from NOW ON AND I SUGGEST YOU DO SO ALSO No other retail chain requires this, if you have your original receipt.

Location: Yonkers, New York

I agree with you wholeheartedly and I officially boycotted this store.

It's not that VS is stealing identity as some are saying that VS is not doing, it's that they are in fact unintentionally putting shoppers at risk by taking that information.

So many large companies have been hacked into, now hackers would have our drivers license info too!?!? Identity theft is serious, it happened to me. Both Target and American Express with their sophisticated systems got hacked, huge breach of security, but at least they didn't have your ID on file!

I was asked for I.D. too.

Really? I made a purchase literally 15 minutes earlier, left the store, my mom was sitting on the bench in the mall. She said, you bought the wrong one! So I went back, waited in line again, with my receipt from 15 min earlier, asking solely to even exchange a SEALED item and they wanted my ID to prevent theft?

It made no sense, I had a receipt, they even remembered me....

Bath & Body Works has the same policy because they are under the same ownership is VS. No other store does this. Other stores only ask for ID if you don't have a receipt. This is ridiculous and a total invasion of privacy.

I fear shopping there now for anyone else should there need to be a return or an exchange. It's not worth it, so I don't, it's the principle of the matter.

they do this to prevent return fraud. I work at Victoria's Secret, and I know for a fact this is why they do this.

It is not to "steal your information", why the *** would we want it? It's to prevent horrible people who steal items and then try to return them with fraudulent receipts.

It does happen. Just comply or don't complain.

THERE ARE MANY STORES THAT REQUIRE THIS INFORMATION!!! Why would they want your info to just steal it?

They do it to protect themselves from the *** that STEALS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF MERCHANDISE DAILY!! It clearly states on their return policy that this is required to process a return and the only time it should ever be an issue is if you stole that *** and now their awesome return management system has denied your return so you can't keep making money off of being a horrible person. Grow up.

Read the rules. Follow them.

I too had a similar horrible experience. After spending $90 the previous week we noticed an extra pair of underwear not discounted (bundle sale).

We decided to return the full priced pair of drawers and went through a ridiculously long ordeal: zip code, address, phone number, driver's license. 5 minutes later we were still there trying to have our $11 returned. The straw that broke my back was when I noticed the driver's license was being scanned into a picture taking device. Talk about identity theft.

I almost blew a gasket. I spoke to the manager and have called customer service. Everyone states "that is the policy." I wanted to refused but they stated they would not process a return without an ID. Keep in mind that I have had other stores request an ID which is visually inspected but never recorded.

I am still discussed and angry.

This is completely draconian. Spread the word to stop this nonsense.

It's doesn't take a picture, it just scans the barcode. We use one at the store I work at too.

VS doesn't do "bundle sales." The 5/$26 panties are programmed in the system to ring up at something like $5.20/each once there are five or more scanned. There aren't any panties priced $11 - the 3/$33 go down to $11 each when buying 3 or more; do you mean that you bought one pair more than you intended?

Also, VS does not use a "picture taking device" (whatever that is; I presume that you mean a regular, office-style scanner) when taking info for a return. They either swipe your DL as they would a credit card, use the scanner on the barcode ont he back of your ID, or type the info in by hand.

They won't process a return without an ID because there are some customers - enough to require this policy as response - who return items on more-than-regular basis. In other words, people buy things, wear them, then return them (often marking of cutting some part of them first); this way they can wear things without "paying for them" in the long run. This happens in a lot of stores, especially those focusing on lingerie, dressy clothing, and sports wear.

The system keeps track of how often you return things. Do it too often (and each company has their own "magic number") and the system will refuse to accept any more returns from you.

They are not stealing your identity. Can you imagine how badly that would affect business if VS was stealing peoples' identities on a regular basis? I mean, really. :roll

The zip code/emzil is so you get coupons. Most stores ask for it for that reason these days. Same with return policy, most stores now ask for id even if youhave a receipt.

A. Think before you buy...I mean seriously...

B.Most stores require this..it is to protect the company and track returns C.If your pissed maybe you should go after all the grimy people that make them have this return policy due to theft..if VS didn't do this the prices would go up even higher because so many people steal all the time. And D.

Guess what don't think they are gonna miss your $14 for the one thong you probably bought in 20 years. :)

Lady you are insane. Yes LOTS OF STORES REQUIRE THIS INFO- I don't know any store now a days that doesn't require personal information with a return.

They do this to protect the store from people who wear & return, steal, & to keep a record of how many times you return things.

There are stores that can BAN YOU from banning if you return things constantly. Maybe you should BOYCOTT your fridge then your thong won't look so bad on your fat cheesy ***.

I forgot to mention. I bought a thong and it looks like a rubber band on a head of cauliflower when I put it on my fat cheesy ***.
